For me (Karin) dogs have always been a
hobby and a part of my life. When I grow up there was a
poodle and later on a labrador in the family. When I was
14 I spend the summer at a kennel that, among other,
bred bearded collies and I knew from then that this was
my breed. I fell in love with their lovely temperament;
always happy, alert, friendly, clever, and their joy of
living. |
|
I became a member of the Swedish Bearded
Collie Club and started to follow the breed, but it took several
years before I had the time, place, and enough knowledge
to by my own beardie. In 1994 I bought Simson
(Alistair’s Home Run). Four years later I got my first
beardie bitch Lucky (Lp1 Alistair’s Blue Nahema), also
she from kennel Alistair’s. |

In the summer of 2002 we moved to our
house on the countryside and one week later our first beagle
Guinness (Champhurst Forgotten Dreams) moved in with us.
After that two bitches
have joined our pack; the beardie Nova (CH Lärkängen’s Now
and Forever) and the beagle Stina (McHaire All Over). Besides our own dogs we are both active
in other dog related activities. Karin is a ring
steward, member of the Section for activities and for
breeding, respectively, in the Bearded Collie Club. Leif
is the treasurer in the local Beagle Club. |

Our dogs are first of all highly praised
members of our family! Except for the physical exercise
they are activated in showing, obedience, blood
tracking, and hare hunting (Guinness) and occasionally
they are practicing agility and herding (the beardies). |

Besides our own dogs we are active in
other dog related activities. Karin is a ring steward,
secretary in the local Kennel Club, and a member of the
Section for activities in the Bearded Collie Club. Leif
is the treasurer in the local Beagle Club
and
a member of the Section for breeding as well as the
Section for activities in the Bearded Collie Club. |

We both work as scientists, Karin at the
university in Linköping and Leif at the
Swedish Defence Research Agency. |
